Indore Doctors Save One Year Old After Fish Jumps Into Throat During Aquarium Cleaning
A routine home task turned into a life-threatening emergency in Indore when a nearly three-inch ornamental fish jumped into a toddler’s mouth while he was laughing. The freak incident occurred on April 3, 2026, as the child's elder siblings were cleaning their home aquarium and playing with fish collected in a net.
The child was rushed to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH), where a six-member medical team led by Dr. Yamini Gupta performed a complex, half-hour emergency surgery. Doctors reported that the fish was still flapping vigorously inside the child's throat upon arrival, causing internal injuries and severe breathing difficulty before it was successfully extracted.
